THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES VISITED
FLOODED AREAS OF BELGRADE
Belgrade, 13th April 2006 – Their
Royal Highnesses Crown Prince
Alexandar II and Princess Katherine
visited today flooded areas of
Belgrade, endangered by Sava, Danube
and Topcider river. In contact with
citizens, Crown Couple had a chance
to express their deepest concern for
the hard situation in the Capitol of
Serbia.
While talking with workers that
were engaged on sanitation of the
floods near Belgrade Fair, Crown
Prince and Princess had the chance
to see the enormous efforts that
workers gave in order to provide
clean streets of Belgrade.
During their visit to Zemun,
Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown
Princess Katherine were informed
about the situation on the ground
and measures that have been taken in
order to defend this part of Serbian
Capitol from the flood wave.
Crown Prince gave his full
support to all the people that were
working on fortification of Zemun,
especially to the soldiers of the
Army of Serbia and Montenegro.
“We have to make the plan
together with people from other,
surrounding countries and to
reinforce our defence from this kind
of situations. Last year we have
suffered enough damage from floods.
Remember Jasa Tomic! Unfortunately,
Danube and Sava River are making
new, black record. Danube must be
our home, true friend, river that
connects us to other countries.
Therefore, we have to work together,
to make a plan and to implement it
in order to prevent new floods in
Serbia”, emphasised Crown Prince
during his visit to Zemun bench and
added: “I am sure that we can do a
lot of things so that we can be
better prepared for the future
situations like this one.”
Crown Prince Alexander expressed
his belief in dedication of Serbian
Government to give all the necessary
help in order to normalize
situation, so that the damage in
Belgrade and the rest of Serbia can
easily be repaired.
During their visit to Zemun bench
of Danube, Their Royal Highnesses
met with the Mayor of Belgrade Mr
Nenad Bogdanovic and other officials
of the capitol.
