When HRH Crown Prince Alexander
was born 17 July 1945 the United
Kingdom Prime Minister Sir Winston
Churchill declared suite 212 in
Claridge’s Hotel in London Yugoslav
territory. His Holiness Patriarch
Gavrilo of Serbia baptized Crown
Prince Alexander in Westminster
Abbey. The Crown Prince’s godparents
were His Majesty the late King
George VI and the then HRH Princess
Elizabeth now HM The Queen Elizabeth
II.
Their Royal Highnesses will be
presenting Her Majesty with a
beautiful Serbian national costume
handmade and embroidered especially
prepared by Mr. Dragan Ilic and
family in their workshop “Srma -
Etnoart” (a business developed
thanks to the Serbian Agency for the
Development of Small and Medium Size
Enterprises and Entrepreneurship)
from Jakovo near Belgrade. The
national costume will be in a
traditional engraved wooden box.
