LETTER OF THE CROWN PRINCE TO BISHOP ARTEMIJE
Belgrade, 28th June 2006. – His Royal Highness Crown Prince
Alexander II sent the following letter to His Grace Bishop of Raska and Prizren
Artemije on the occasion of Vidovdan holiday:
On behalf of me and my wife, allow me to extend our warmest
greetings and wishes for peace on the occasion of Vidovdan, holy day that will
remain forever in the history of our people.
On that day, 617 years ago our people showed on Kosovo Polje
to the whole world that they are ready to do anything when the freedom is in
stake. I truly believe that this holiday will be marked with dignity and peace
today as well, when the peace is the most important and most needed word for
I sympathize with the suffering and the pain of our people in
Kosovo, our Jerusalem. In the moment when our entire nation is paying respect
for those who gave their lives “for Holy Cross and Golden Freedom“, I urge You,
Your Grace to extend my sincere greetings and wishes for better and safer future
to all of our people.
We live in the time when the courage is not measured by the
quantity of spilled blood, but by the quantity of the spilled sweat for the
benefit of ones family and the own nation. I therefore urge you, Your Grace, to
show with your personal example, what it means to be a true spiritual shepherd,
as you did so far.
