IMPORTANT STATEMENT FROM THE OFFICE OF HRH CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER II

Belgrade 12th July 2006 - According to a leading article published in today’s "Kurir" daily newspaper with the headline "King for Prime Minister" which refers that the Diaspora suggests that Crown Prince Alexander II should take the leading role within a democratic block and accept the position of Prime Minister of Serbia in order to stop the Radical Party in it's ambitions, the Office of HRH Crown Prince Alexander II wishes to inform the public about following:

The principle of Constitutional Parliamentary Monarchy is to be above politics and provide unity, continuity and stability. The Monarch reigns and the government rules. The Monarch is not a member of any political party and does not owe favour to any political party.

In Constitutional Parliamentary Monarchies citizens elect members of Parliament for both Houses in the Parliament in open and fair elections who represent them in leading the country just like in a republic. The Assembly issues the laws. The Assembly also controls executive administration, the Prime Minister and his Government rule the country.

As in all Constitutional Parliamentary Monarchies such as Sweden, Belgium, Norway, Spain etc the Prime Minister conducts the Government and he is responsible directly to the Assembly. The Monarch respects the results of free and fair elections.

What we need in Serbia is a neutral head of state to avoid any further bickering and allow the democratically elected government to get on with the business of ruling the country and this can only be achieved through Constitutional Parliamentary Monarchy.

Serbia cannot afford to waist any more precious time. We must fulfill our international obligations and get on for once all with the European Union negotiations.

Our citizens deserve a future and to live like all Europeans in the European Union and not suffer anymore being outcasts. Serbia can be a key member of the European Union and take part in its business and not constantly be dictated to.

We in Serbia need a new respected and well proven image through Constitutional Parliamentary Monarchy and Crown Alexander is ready to unite everyone regardless of their political view, religion or ethnic origin.

Serbia needs jobs and a successful market economy to provide good social services and further opportunities. Constitutional Parliamentary Monarchy will provide stability and respect for Serbia.
