HRH CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER ATTENDS MISAR BATTLE
COMMEMORATION
Belgrade, 13th August 2006 – His Royal Highness Crown
Prince Alexander II attended the Misar Battle commemoration and laid a
laurel wreath to pay his respects to those who lost their lives in this
battle 200 years ago.
The Battle at Misar that occurred 13th August 1806 is one
of the most important and the greatest victories of Karadjordje and his
followers in the First Serbian Upraising. The battle is a brilliant example
of a tactically well-planed and executed operation. That is a point that
Crown Prince also emphasised in his speech:
“It is a great honour for me to be here today. I am
saying this not only because we are honouring great Karadjordje. I am saying
this as a former military officer like my grand grandfather King Peter I and
my grandfather King Alexander I as well:
The Battle on Misar, where Karadjordje defeated Sulejman
Pasha Skopljak is a fine example of good planning and tactics. This battle
was also a good example of teamwork.
That is what Serbia needs especially now, more than ever:
good planning, unity and team work!
Therefore, let us respect our history, celebrate our
great victories, but also, let us seek a good future of our country“, said
the Crown Prince in his speech.
Beside HRH Crown Prince Alexander II, a number of state
and other officials also attended the Misar Battle Commemoration: HE Dragan
Jocic the Minister of Interior Affairs in the Government of Serbia, HE
Velimir Ilic the Minister for Capital Investments in the Government of
Serbia, the representative of the President of Serbia Dr Trivo Indjic,
