FAREWELL TO OUR SCHOLARSHIP STUDENTS AT THE ROYAL
PALACE
Belgrade 18 September 2006 - Their Royal Highnesses Crown
Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine hosted today at The Royal
Palace a reception in honour of fourteen students from Serbian Universities
who will continue their studies at the University of Nottingham, United
Kingdom.
Fourteen top students will spend the next academic year
for postgraduate studies, (Master and PhD degree), in one of the most
reputable Universities in the World. The University of Nottingham will cover
their tuition fees and the Fund for Young Talents of Serbia and the
Foundation of Prince Alexander for Culture and Education will provided them
with funds for accommodation and living expenses.
“My wife, Princess Katherine and I are proud to have so
many young talented students here, at The White Palace today. You represent
the crème de la crème of our country’s future. I am sure that you will make
us all proud while your stay in Nottingham University. Serbia needs you,
your knowledge, and your abilities. I urge you to come back after this
academic year in the United Kingdom and help develop our motherland. I am
most grateful to Nottingham University for having awarded these wonderful
scholarships”, stated His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II while
addressing the students at the reception.
This Initiative of His Royal Highness Crown Prince
Alexander II was launched during a visit to the United Kingdom in Great
Britain, when he personally met Sir Colin Campbell Rector of Nottingham
University. The cooperation is a result of the joint effort of Crown Prince
and the Rectors of Belgrade and Nottingham Universities. This cooperation
between Nottingham University and Serbian Universities will be a
long-lasting one and it will improve the future carrier development of the
best students of Serbia.
HE Slobodan Vuksanovic Serbian Minister of Education, HE
David Gowan ambassador of Great Britain in Serbia, Professor Dejan Popovic
Rector of Belgrade University and Professor Milos Djuran Rector of
Kragujevac University also attended the reception at the Royal Palace. The
parents and relatives of the student were also present.
