ROYAL COUPLE ON HUMANITARIAN MISSION IN THE UNITED
STATES
Chicago, Belgrade 3 October 2006 – Their Royal Highnesses
Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine during their visit to
the United States after a successful Charity Event in the Chicago Athletic
Club attended services at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in Merrillville,
Indiana.
After the Church Ceremony, Their Royal Highnesses joined
more than 800 guests at a Serbian Sisters humanitarian luncheon in Hobart
Indiana where HRH Princess Katherine was a keynote speaker.
HRH Princess Katherine pointed out the very difficult
situation in the Medical institutions of Serbia. In particular, those there
are dealing with children health care.
"I don't think it's God's will for those babies to die
because they were born in Serbia," she said.
In addition, she exposed hard living conditions of more
than 600 000 refugees, very high unemployment rate, insufficient social
funds and other fundamental problems of the Serbian Society.
HRH Crown Prince Alexander II expressed his belief that
this visit will further strengthen relations between Serbia and the United
States. The example for future collaboration was recently established with
sisterhood of Chicago and Belgrade, the State of Illinois and Serbia. The
benefits would be economic, health care, cultural and sport cooperation. If
Serbia takes advantage of building on this wonderful relationship there
would be mutual benefits for the people of Serbia, Illinois, Chicago and
Belgrade.
