SIR MALCOLM RIFKIND LECTURES STUDENTS - FACULTY OF
POLITICAL SCIENCE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF BELGRADE
Belgrade, 23 October 2006 – The Rt Hon Sir Malcolm
Rifkind QC who is visiting Belgrade upon invitation of Their Royal
Highnesses, gave a lecture “Transitions and changes in world from 1999 until
today” in presence of Crown Prince Alexander II and HE David Gowan
Ambassador of United Kingdom in Belgrade at the
Faculty of Political
Science of the University of Belgrade .
Thanks to the initiative of HRH Crown Prince Alexander to
introduce the youth in Serbia with the joint impact of politics and
diplomacy, Sir Malcolm shared his rich political experience with the
students of Belgrade University.
Ser Malcolm Rifkind is a Member of the Queen Council, is
the Member of Parliament for Kensington and Chelsea, and gained his rich
political experience by working in important and responsible positions since
1986 when he became a member of the Cabinet as Secretary of State for
Scotland. The year before, he was appointed Queen’s Counsel. In 1990, he
became Minister of Transport and in 1992 Secretary of State for Defence.
From 1995-97 he was Foreign Secretary of United Kingdom.
