CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER DELIVERS DENISE HALE SCHOLARSHIPS TO TOP 12 STUDENTS OF UNIVERSITY OF KRAGUJEVAC

Belgrade, Kragujevac, 15 November 2006 – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II and Prof. Dr. Milos Djuran, Rector of the University of Kragujevac delivered today Denise Hale Scholarships to top 12 students of the University of Kragujevac.

His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II and other distinguished guests were warmly welcomed by the Rector of the University of Kragujevac Prof. Dr. Milos Djuran, who expressed his gratitude to Ms. Denise Hale and the Foundation of Crown Prince Alexander for Culture and Education for contributing to further academic development and personal fulfilment of the students who already showed their excellence during their studies at the University of Kragujevac.

His Royal Highness emphasized that his personal goal and the goal of his Foundation is to promote and improve education in Serbia and open the doors to the world for Serbian students. He stressed that he is very grateful to Ms. Hale for recognising the need of supporting the talented and hard working students in order to continue their studies with success and provide them with means for academic development. His Royal Highness stressed that he is putting an effort to obtain new scholarships from different European Universities for Serbian students.

When Ms. Denise Hale, a great philanthropist and friend of Their Royal Highnesses accompanied Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine in their visit to Kragujevac in April 2006, they have visited the University of Kragujevac and Mrs. Hale kindly offered to award the best students of the fourth year of each faculty of the University with a scholarship of $1200.

The ceremony for Denise Hale Scholarships, organised by the Foundation of Crown Prince Alexander for Culture and Education and the University of Kragujevac was attended by the Speaker of Kragujevac City Assembly Mr. Dobrica Milovanovic, His Grace Bishop of Sumadija Jovan, representatives of the City of Kragujevac, as well as the representatives of the University of Kragujevac, representatives of student organisations as well as Media representatives. The ceremony was also attended by Mr. Dragomir Acovic president of The Crown Council, Mr. Svetomir Jakovljevic member of Supervisory Board of the Foundation of Crown Prince Alexander for Culture and Education and Mrs. Leda Gofas Director of the Foundation who accompanied His Royal Highness during his visit to Kragujevac.
