THE NIGHT OF INTERNATIONAL CUISINE IN
THE WHITE PALACE
Belgrade, 7 December 2006 – HRH Crown
Prince Alexander II hosted the traditional evening of
international cuisine tonight at the White Palace.
More than twenty embassies accepted the
invitation of Their Royal Highnesses to represent
gastronomic tradition of their countries with typical
dishes.
Guests were welcomed by HRH Crown Prince
Alexander II, who stressed that it is always nice to see
such a colourful banquet table at the White Palace, and that
this event brings us together because it gives us a chance
to get to know each other’s culture better. He also
expressed regret for Crown Princess Katherine not being able
to attend this interesting event due to obligations abroad,
and announced that on December 16, HRH Crown Princess
Katherine Foundation is organizing a humanitarian show
called Children Helping Children in Sava Centre in Belgrade,
at which Belgrade ballet school Lujo Davičo will perform
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker.
The folklore ensemble Lola presented a
series of dances from Serbia during the official part of the
evening.
Tonight the banquet table of the White
Palace hosted side by side specialties such as biriani,
potato cutlets and chicken karahi from Pakistan, Korean
kimchi, Moroccan chicken with almonds and fish briouates,
Sri Lankan rice specialty and Indian chicken curry, Syrian
kebab and baba ganoush, Canadian fish platter, Tunisian
kus-kus, Serbian prebranac, Spanish paella, Lebanese
canapees and Mexican chicken with tomato, Israeli falafel
and Greek spanakopita, while Myanmar was represented by a
potato pudding.
Beside Their Excellencies ambassadors and
representatives of embassies of Albania, Australia, Greece,
India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Canada, Cyprus, Korea,
Lebanon, Morocco, Mexico, Myanmar, Pakistan, Syria, Spain,
Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Turkey and Zimbabwe, this special
evening was also attended by the heads of international
missions in Belgrade. |
