“THE INTEREST OF THE PEOPLE MUST COME FIRST” APPEALS CROWN
PRINCE ALEXANDER
Belgrade, 22 January 2007 – HRH Crown Prince Alexander II
appealed today to Serbian political leaders to put the interest of all citizens
first during negotiations about the new government.
“Yesterday the Serbian electorate proved their democratic
rights by turning out in such high numbers to vote for their future. This turns
a new page in the history of Serbian democracy. I appeal to all political
factors, regardless of whether they will be forming a government, or remain in
opposition, or are a non-parliamentary party, to always put the interest of the
people first.
At this point the interests of political parties have to be
put aside, while the normal and respectable life of all our citizens should be
the obligation of everyone who is in politics, not only because this is the
pivotal point of all election campaigns, but also because this is the basic need
of all our citizens.
I am appealing to all that are taking part in negotiations
regarding the formation of a new government to have in mind that the future of
millions of citizens and Serbia is pending on the results of their
negotiations,” Crown Prince pointed out in his appeal to political leaders in
Serbia. |
