CROWN COUNCIL MEMBER PROF. DR. SLOBODAN VITANOVIC PASSED
AWAY
Belgrade 10 February 2007 - His Royal Highness Crown Prince
Alexander II received with much sadness news about death of Crown Council member
Professor Dr. Slobodan Vitanovic, Prof. Emeritus of the Belgrade University, who
died this morning in Belgrade.
"Serbia has lost one of its finest experts of French
language, culture and literature, who left behind many books and studies in the
field of the national and French baroque and classicistic art and literature.
The Crown has lost a good and loyal friend and an outstanding expert. It is hard
to describe in words the sorrow after Professor Dr. Vitanovic passed away",
emphasized HRH Crown Prince Alexander II in his letter of condolences to the
family of the Crown Council Member.
HRH Crown Prince Alexander II decided to create posthumously
Prof Dr. Vitanovic Grand Cross of the Order of White Eagle.
Professor Vitanovic was born in 1928 in Belgrade. He was a
member of the Executive Council and Vice-President of the Belgrade Centre of the
European Society of Culture, Vice-President and President of the Alliance
Yugoslavia-France. He was visiting Professor of French Literature at the
Universities of Bordeaux (1972-74), Aix-Marseilles (1981), Paris III (Sorbonne
Nouvelle) (1989) and Paris XII (1990/1) |
