HRH CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER ATTENDS 150TH ANNIVERSARY
OF THE SERBIAN CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
Belgrade, 13TH March 2007 – HRH Crown Prince Alexander II
attended today the ceremony in honour of the 150th Anniversary of the
Serbian
Chamber of Commerce in the ceremonial hall of their
headquarters at Resavska Street.
The commemoration was ceremonially opened by Mr. Slobodan
Milosavljevic, President of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, who said: “A long
time ago, on 28th February 1857 the Serbian Prince Alexander Karadjordjevic
founded the Trade Council in Belgrade. For that time, as well as for today, it
was an extraordinary legal enactment which set the foundation for the Chamber of
Commerce in Serbia and regulated the legal status of trade, industrial and
handicraft chambers.”
In his speech HRH Crown Prince Alexander II mentioned: “I am
proud that my great great grandfather founded the Serbian Chamber, an important
national institution. I am also very proud because this institution today is
organized like those in Western Europe, and that every year they are opening new
representative offices worldwide. The fact that the chamber has endured
continuously for a century and a half, regardless of many difficult periods,
confirms its importance and necessity, as well as the foresight of its
founders”.
In the further program, the speakers were: Prof. Dr. Mirko
Vasiljevic, Dean of Faculty of Law, and Mr. Radivoje Jeftic, General Secretary
