TV STUDIO B AWARDS PROF. DR. AFKENDIOS KALANGOS FOR
CONTRIBUTION
TO SERBIAN SOCIETY
Belgrade, 31ST March 2007 – Prof. Dr. Afkendios Kalangos
arrived to Belgrade today to receive an annual award from TV Studio B that will
be given to him for his great endeavours to Serbian Society.
During his visit to Belgrade he was guest of Their Royal
Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine at The Royal
Palace.
In the magnificent ambient of The Royal Palace, Professor Dr.
Afkendios Kalangos had the opportunity to meet with Serbian eminent doctors,
such as: Dr. Ilic, cardio-surgeon in Tirsova, Dr Hercog, cardiologist in
Tirsova, Dr. Vucicevic, anaesthesiologist in Tirsova, Prof. Dr. Velimirovic,
cardio-surgeon at the Clinical Centre of Serbia and Prof. Dimitra Kalimenonski
Ostric, cardiologist, Prof. Dr. Vranes, cardio-surgeon, Prof. Dr. Fabri,
cardio-surgeon, Prof. Dr. Nican, cardio-surgeon to make arrangements regarding
future cooperation between their medical institutions in the field of new
technologies in medical equipment and training for our medical experts in
Geneva.
Following the meeting, Prof. Dr. Kalangos visited the
University Children’s Hospital in Tirsova, where he was introduced to the
medical status of the patients that he will operate in June this year, when he
will also deliver a donation of an Ultrasound and ECHMO for artificial
circulation machines to Tirsova Hospital from his foundation Hearts for All. On
that occasion he met a 14 year old boy from village Veliki Senj, nearby
Kragujevac, who suffers from a serious heart infection and because of his
critical condition Dr. Kalangos decided to operate him the following day.
In the evening, Prof. Kalangos attended the birthday
celebration of TV Studio B at the Theatre Art where he received the prestigious
award from the City Television for his great contribution to Serbian society.
“First of all, I would like to thank you for conferring upon
me this reward coming from a brother country. I am receiving it on behalf of the
medical and paramedical staff of Tirsova Hospital who took care of Dejana and
saved her life. There is no personal glory in team work. The list of the names
is long but I would like to tell them this reward is yours too. I would like to
thank also The Royal Family and all authorities who actually participated and
contributed to save a life. I am grateful to all of you” – emphasized Prof. Dr.
Kalangos in his speech at the award ceremony. |
