“DAY OF PLANET EARTH LET’S LIVE TOGETHER“ UNDER THE PATRONAGE OF THE HRH CROWN PRINCES KATHERINE FOUNDATION

Belgrade, 22 April 2007– The Association for persons with special needs “Stari grad” under the patronage of the HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation and in cooperation with the Ministry for Social Affairs, the Society for Help to Persons with Special Needs and the Council for Ecology from Belgrade organized a manifestation “Day of Planet Earth – Let ‘s Live Together” on the occasion of the Day of Planet Earth.

The Day of Planet Earth is celebrated on 22 April throughout the world, and it has been marked in Belgrade with a special manifestation in the city centre, from the Square of the Republic all the way down to Knez Mihajlova Street and Kalemegdan Fortress. Within this manifestation women refugees, displaced persons and children with special needs had an exhibition of handicrafts at the booths in Knez Mihajlova Street.

Because of the previously accepted obligations abroad, HRH Crown Princess Katherine could not be present at the opening, but on her behalf a representative of the HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation read her greeting letter.

“Today you will have the honour to enjoy in the beauty of the unique handicrafts made by our dear friends from the organizations for people with special needs from all parts of Serbia. We are very proud of them and their creativity. This event is a great opportunity for all people to join together to celebrate the day of our beloved Planet, and by buying these handicraft s you will show generosity and support to our creative friends, this is what this day is all about " – emphasized Crown Princess Katherine in her letter

As a special surprise for all visitors, The Royal Air Club “Soko” organized a presentation of parachuting, dragon flight and presentation of airplane models at the Kalemegdan fortress.
