THE MAYOR OF INDIANAPOLIS PROCLAIMS 26 APRIL TO BE THE DAY OF THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES

Indianapolis, USA 26 April 2007 - At a Gala Dinner in honour of Their Royal Highnesses on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at the Marriott Indianapolis Downtown Hotel, Their Royal Highnesses were presented with Ambassadors for Children Peace Award by Jim Morris, President of the United Nations World Food Programme.

This award is given to someone who has made a significant impact in their country with regard to the disadvantaged, abused, or abandoned. Their Royal Highnesses were chosen for the work they have done in Serbia, and this is the continuation of a long- lasting cooperation between Ambassadors for Children and City of Indianapolis on one end, and Their Royal Highnesses on the other.

At the same event, a wonderful surprise occurred: as he was out of town that night and could not attend the Gala dinner, Mr. Bart Peterson, Mayor of the City of Indianapolis sent a proclamation saying: ”Whereas the City of Indianapolis joins the Ambassadors for Children in recognizing the efforts of their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine for their efforts in serving medical and educational needs of children, refugees and senior citizens throughout the world; Now, I, Bart Peterson, Mayor of the City of Indianapolis do hereby proclaim April 26, 2007 to be Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine Day in the City of Indianapolis and I ask all citizens to join me in this observation”.

Upon their arrival to Indianapolis, TRH were officially welcomed by former Indiana First Lady Judy O’Bannon in a news conference at The Peace Learning Centre on Wednesday, April 25th. On Thursday, April 26th Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine spoke at a private brunch hosted by the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, the largest of its kind in the world, followed by a visit to St. Vincent Riley Hospital for Children in order to introduce the needs of the Serbian health system to the Indianapolis medical circles.

On Friday, April 27th Their Royal Highnesses were guests at the downtown Indianapolis Kiwanis Club luncheon, one of the biggest such events in the world, where they met with high profile business people in Indianapolis, and had the opportunity to speak about the situation in Serbia today.
