CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER SUPPORTS SERBIAN PARLIAMENT
RESOLUTION ON KOSOVO AND METOHIJA
Belgrade, 25 July 2007 – HRH Crown Prince Alexander II
welcomes the adoption of the “Resolution on the necessity of a just solution of
the question of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija, based on
international law”, by the National Parliament of the Republic of Serbia.
The adoption of this document with a large majority of votes
by members of parliament shows that Serbia is politically united when its
territorial integrity and sovereignty are in question, and that, in the solving
of this issue, it calls for the generally accepted principles of international
law to be upheld.
His Royal Highness calls upon the people of Serbia to give
their full support to the state institutions and their principle stand that only
through dialogue with the Albanians, with the full respect of the demand for
autonomy, but within Serbia, can there be a solution which will bring permanent
stability to the region.
The Crown Prince expresses hope that the international
community will also be a constructive factor in the further negotiations about
the status and that it will not allow that, counter to the UN Charter, the
Helsinki Final Act and other fundamental principles of international law, a part
of the territory of one of the founders of the UN is taken away. |
