THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES DELIVER MEDICAL EQUIPMENT TO HEALTH INSTITUTIONS IN UZICE, CACAK AND GORNJI MILANOVAC

Belgrade, 25 July 2007 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine are continuing their humanitarian mission and the Safe Delivery project by delivering essential medical equipment to the central medical institutions in Uzice, Cacak and Gornji Milanovac.

After visiting the children in Our Serbia summer camp, Their Royal Highnesses visited the Regional Hospital in Uzice where they delivered an CTG apparatus, a Steriliser and a ECG machine. Dr. Darko Marinkovic, Director of the hospital together with the hospital staff greeted Their Royal Highness in front of the hospital and gave them a tour.

Following this humanitarian delivery, Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine visited the Health Centre in Cacak, where they were welcomed by H.E. Mr. Velimir Ilic, Minister for Infrastructure of Serbia, Mr. Velimir Stanojevic, President of the Cacak Municipality, Dr. Momcilo Spasic, Director of the Hospital and Dr. Miloje Vukotic, Director of the Health Centre in Cacak. On this occasion Their Royal Highnesses delivered a CTG apparatus, a Steriliser and a Vacuum Extractor.

In her speech, Crown Princess Katherine emphasized: “The equipment we are delivering today is part of the Safe Delivery project which was launched by my Foundation in November 2006. Funds for purchasing this equipment were raised at the Charity Gala Dinner in Paris organised in June this year. In the near future, we are planning to distribute essential equipment to 40 medical institutions, aiming to provide better conditions for safe delivery for future mothers in Serbia”.

Minister Ilic said it gives him great pleasure that the Crown Prince and Crown Princess are in Cacak today, stressing that the Government of Serbia and the Ministry for Infrastructure are planning to reconstruct the access roads to hospitals in order to improve their service, which is also the support to the endeavors of the Foundation of HRH Princess Katherine to modernize medical institutions in Serbia.

Later that day, Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine visited the Health Centre in Gornji Milanovac where they delivered a CTG apparatus, a Steriliser, a Vacuum Extractor and one warm table.

The total value of today’s donation is over 25,000 euros.
