HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS ATTENDED PRESENTATION
OF MIROSLAV’S GOSPEL AT ST. SAVA TEMPLE
Belgrade, 20 September 2007 – His Royal Highness Crown Prince
Alexander II attended the special presentation of the book Miroslav’s Gospel
which was organised in conjunction with the events marking the 2007 European
Heritage Days (EHD) under the title "Book in the Temple – 72 hours."
The programme "Book in the Temple – 72 hours" is dedicated to
presenting Miroslav’s Gospel in a special exposition show case with the
conception to strongly emphasize religious, civilisation and historical value of
this very important memorial of Serbian culture subsisted in UNESCO’s world
cultural heritage list, which is lordly representing our country, church and our
people.
His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the
Littoral served the Holy Liturgy in the presence of church dignitaries, guests
and citizens.
Miroslav’s Gospel is the first Serbian Cyrillic book written
in the 12th century, for Prince Miroslav, brother of Stefan Nemanja. It had a
very turbulent history but, fortunately, it has been preserved to date. |
