THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES ATTEND CONCERT - 30th ANNIVERSARY OF
THE DEATH OF MARIA CALLAS
Belgrade, 15 October 2007 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown
Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine attended last night at the
National Theatre in Belgrade a concert organised by the Embassy of Greece in
Serbia on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the death of Maria Callas, one
of the biggest sopranos in the history of opera.
The gala concert “Remembering Maria Callas“ was held in
memory of the famous Greek opera singer who, even today, 30 years after her
death, enjoys tremendous respect from opera lovers.
Special guest performances at the concert included Agnes
Baltsa, mezzo soprano known for the works of Mozart, Rossini, Mascani, Verdi, as
well as Dimitra Teodosiu, soprano, one of the most exciting and most significant
voices of Verdi’s and bel canto repertoire. Apart from them, and guided by
maestro Dejan Savic, the soloists from the National Theatre in Belgrade also
performed. |
