ROUND TABLE AT THE ROYAL PALACE ON THE STATE OF ELDERLY PEOPLE IN SERBIA

Belgrade, 15 November 2007 - Under the patronage of Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine and in organization of ASISTEL limited, today at The Royal Palace a round table was held on the subject of the state of elderly people in the system of social welfare and new initiatives promoting innovative services.

The participants of the round table where HE Ambassador Dr. Jose Riera Siquier of Spain to Serbia, members of the Ministry for the Employment and Social Welfare, Ministry of Health, representatives of the Belgrade Assembly, representatives of the Institute for Gerontology as well as the representatives of the Companies ASISTEL and SABIA.

All speakers addressed the current situation of our senior citizens and presented projects and programmes by their institutions which have the goal to improve the position of elderly people.

Crown Prince Alexander emphasised that the best way to help elderly people is in private and public partnership, while Crown Princess Katherine pointed out that it is crucial that this service is available to all those people who are not financially challenged.
