H.R.H. CROWN PRINCE ALEKSANDAR II UNVEILS MONUMENT
TO KING PETAR I  IN VELIKA PLANA

 

Their  Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Ale ksandar and his son, Prince Filip visited today Velika Plana municipality where the Crown Prince unveiled a monument to his great grandfather King Petar I .

Serbian Culture Minister, Mr. Branislav Lečić , Presidents of Municipalities Smederevo, Ivanjica, Rača, Aranđelovac and Lapovo and other municipal officials were present.

Unveiling the monument, Crown Prince Ale ksandar said that the period of King Petar I reign was recorded in history and remembered by the people as a period of strong democracy, when democratic principles were in the basis of public and political life in Serbia . “Today we advocate the same democratic principles and our aim is to introduce them in the state and social institutions”, the Crown Prince pointed out.

The Serbian Culture Minister, Mr. Branislav Lečić also addressed the several thousand present and emphasized that the return of the Karađorđević Dynasty to our country was part of the cultural process of the Serbian people that could be called “return to ourselves” and added that it was the only way to step into a better future with our heads raised up high.

After Velika Plana , Crown Prince Ale ksandar and Prince Filip visited the church Zahvalnica where Karađorđe was originally buried, monastery Pokajnica and monastery Koporin, the burial place of Prince Stefan Lazarević .

Their Royal Highnesses also visited the hospital “ Stefan Visoki ” in Smederevska Palanka where Princess Katarina delivered humanitarian aid consisting of wheelchairs, prams and chairs for children, shoes, blankets and food. On this occasion Princess Katarina stressed that this was only a part of the aid provided through her humanitarian Foundation and with the assistance and support of kind people who were helping where assistance was most needed.
