THE GRANDFATHER OF THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES PRINCE PETER, PRINCE PHILIP AND PRINCE ALEXANDER DIES IN SPAIN

Belgrade, 27 December 2007 - His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II has received with great sadness the news that His Imperial and Royal Highness Dom Pedro Gastao of Orleans and Bragança passed away today, Thursday 27 December, in Villamanrique de la Condesa near Sevilla, Spain. Dom Pedro (1913–2007) was the grandfather of Prince Peter, Prince Philip and Prince Alexander. He was the great-grandson of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Dom Pedro II of Brazil.

Dom Pedro was married to Her Royal and Imperial Royal Highness Dona Esperanza of Borbon-Sicily who died on 7 August 2005 also in the same town. She was the sister of King Juan Carlos of Spain’s late mother the Countess of Barcelona. Dom Pedro was very popular and will be greatly missed by the whole family.
