CHARITY FASHION SHOW AT THE WHITE PALACE
Belgrade, 14 February 2008 – The HRH Crown Princess Katherine
Foundation, in cooperation with Mrs. Radmila Hrustanovic, Assistant to the
Acting Mayor of Belgrade, hosted today at the White Palace the fourth
humanitarian fashion show organised by the Fabrika fashion agency.
Revenue from ticket sales will be used to acquire the
equipment for the Daily Centre for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer at the
Institute for Gynaecology and Obstetrics of the Clinical Centre of Serbia.
On this year’s fashion show, the ethno collection of Serbian
fashion designer Ms. Verica Planic was presented, as well as the new collection
of ethno Da Lena purses by Sandra Jankovic, the latest collection of haute
couture of Greek fashion designer Mr. Michalis Maniatis, and the jewels by Vicky
M jewellery.
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II welcomed guests
and expressed his satisfaction with the humanitarian effort that citizens of the
Serbian capital showed tonight:
Beside His Royal Highness speeches were delivered by HE
Christos Panagopoulos, Ambassador of Greece to Serbia, Mrs. Radmila Hrustanovic,
Deputy Mayor of Belgrade, Prof. Dr. Vesna Kesic, Head of the Institute for
gynecology and obstetrics at the Clinical Centre of Serbia and Mrs. Vesna
Mandic, Director of the Fashion Agency Fabrika.
Ms. Verica Planic presented her Korenik collection intended
for men and women, and for all seasons. She maintains her pre-developed style
that has, by fashion standards, entered the world of prêt à porter. Her
creations are made of natural materials, knitted, crocheted and textured by
hand.
Da Lena is a new line of fashion accessories for women
dedicated to creating an extraordinary connection between the contemporary form,
folklore and craftsmanship in a unique and elegant way. This design concept is
manifested primarily in purses that have been created in limited editions in
Belgrade and done by hand, expressing authenticity and the feminine side. Their
designer,
Ms. Sandra Jankovic has obtained a Masters degree in textile
design in Great Britain in 1996, and then she worked for six years on the
project which supported women who made handicrafts in Serbia.
Mr. Michalis Maniatis has been known worldwide in the fashion
industry for 15 years. His creations are worn by some of the world’s top
celebrities, and he and his collections have toured the world. In February 2004
he presented his prêt à porter at the Paris Fashion Week, while Miss Universe
wore his creation that same year. In 2006 he was recognised as the best Greek
fashion designer. |
