CROWN PRINCESS KATHERINE ATTENDS 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE HOME FOR DISABLED ADULTS

Belgrade, 30 May 2008 – HRH Crown Princess Katherine attended today a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Home for Disabled Adults in New Belgrade.

At the beginning of the ceremony Crown Princess Katherine welcomed all the guests and protégés of the Home emphasizing:” As you know, my Foundation has delivered wheelchairs to your Home, in cooperation with the Wheelchair Foundation and a massage chair. Recently, we have delivered sugar to your kitchen, as well. We all have to do our best to improve conditions in our institutions, especially those that take care of people with disabilities. I would like to praise all the staff in this Home who, in spite of all the problems, make great efforts to help their beneficiaries, and to make them feel at home, which this institution truly is for them”.

On this occasion guests had the opportunity to see the exhibition of handicrafts prepared by the protégées of the Home, and also to buy many lovely exhibits.

This specialized institution has 80 protégées living at this Home at the moment. On their own, they have organized an internal magazine, creative workshops and Association of people with disabilities.

The HRH Crown Princess Katherine Foundation has donated to this Institution five wheelchairs today, 15 wheelchairs in October 2007, and 16 wheelchairs in October 2006.
