THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES AT THE OPENING OF 16TH SERBIAN DOCTORS’ CONGRESS

Belgrade, 1 June 2008 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine attended tonight the opening of the 16th Serbian Doctors Congress held at the Sava Centre.  

In the beginning of the ceremony, Professor Dr. Vojkan Stanic, President of the Serbian Doctors’ Society gave a welcome speech, thanking everyone for taking part in the Congress.

After that, HRH Crown Prince Alexander II spoke pointing out: “Every Congress is a great opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience, so we can enhance the Serbian healthcare system. The topics you will discuss, like solidarity and equality in health, getting old and being healthy, as well as improvements in the mental health area are of crucial importance for the Serbian healthcare system. All those topics are being implemented in Europe. At the same time, hosting doctors will share their insights and enable the Serbian doctors to broaden their horizons”.

Speeches were also given by Dr. Mathias Reinecke, Chief of Medical Department at the European Agency for Reconstruction and others. After the speeches, HE Professor Dr. Tomica Milosavljevic, Minister of Health in the technical Government of Serbia, opened the Congress.
