CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER WELCOMES RATIFICATION OF AGREEMENT WITH EUROPEAN UNION AND ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF ENERGY AGREEMENT WITH RUSSIA

Belgrade, 9 September 2008 – Ratification of the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) and the Transitional Trade Agreement with the European Union, as well as the acknowledgment of the Energy Agreement with the Russian Federation are significant events that will enable Serbia to begin to take the position that belongs to it, by its geographical position and historical heritage. It will enable Serbia to become a concurrent member of the European family of nations and at the same time a bridge towards the largest Slavic country, Russia.

“What was considered to be a flaw of our position in the past, that we are a small country on the borders of the East and the West, should be our advantage in the future“, emphasized the Crown Prince in his congratulation letter to the Speaker of the Serbian Parliament, Prof. Dr. Slavica Djukic - Dejanovic.

Crown Prince Alexander concluded that this institution is expected to make decisions in the future that will enable the path of progress, stability and preservation of the national sovereignty of Serbia.
