CHARITY DINNER FOR BEST STUDENTS IN SERBIA

Belgrade, 18 October 2008 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine hosted tonight at the White Palace a Charity Dinner for the benefit of the top scholars Serbia. This particular event is organized by Crown Prince Alexander’s Foundation for Education.

This event took place in the presence of HE Dr. Zarko Obradovic, Minister of Education and the Rectors of the Universities of Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš and Kragujevac, as well as many distinguished guests from the fields of business, education and culture.

Crown Prince Alexander delivered a welcome speech and emphasized: “We are gathered to address an issue that is of special importance to me, so it is a great pleasure to see so many distinguished guests here tonight. My Foundation for Education has done much already, but we can do so much more. We want to create permanent scholarship endowments that will be funded year after year. We need your help. The fact that you are here demonstrates your commitment to Serbian education. I challenge you to go further, to truly devote yourselves to the future of this country. Thank you, I hope you all have a wonderful evening.

Following the Crown Prince, keynote speeches were given by HE Dr. Zarko Obradovic, Minister of Education, Prof. Dr. Branko Kovacevic, Rector of the University of Belgrade and Ms Andrijana Vasic a Foundation Scholar.

As a part of the official ceremony, a special flavour to this evening Royal St. George Strings gave a wonderful performance that included A. Cornelli, J. Brahms, E. Grieg, A, Dovorzak, S.S. Kovacevic, L. Weiner and finished with the King’s Kolo by D. Golemovic.

As part of nationwide efforts aimed at supporting development of a stable, democratic and economically advanced society in Serbia, the Crown Prince Alexander's Foundation for Education enables promising students from Serbia to continue their education at prestigious academic institutions of the world, so that they will return to Serbia and apply their training for the benefit of the country.
