CROWN PRINCE AT COMMEMORATION OF KILLED STUDENTS DURING
WORLD WAR TWO
Belgrade, 21 October 2008 – His Royal Highness Crown
Prince Alexander accompanied by Prof. Miroslav Gasic, member of the Crown
Council attended the commemoration marking 67 years since the killing of
Kragujevac civilians including children in the Second World War.
The memorial service for the innocent victims of Nazi
terror in Sumarice served by His Grace Bishop of Sumadija, Jovan was
followed by the traditional cultural event the “great school class”. Before
that, President of Serbia, Mr. Boris Tadic, read a message of peace.
His Royal Highness laid a wreath on the place where on 21
October, 1941 Nazi occupation forces shot over 5,000 civilians, mostly Serbs
and Roma, women and schoolchildren.
This sad event was attended by numerous people from
Serbia and abroad, among them was: HE Dr. Zarko Obradovic, Minister of
Education, Prof. Dr. Slavica Djukic – Dejanovic, Speaker of the House, HE
Mr. Dante Coelho de Lima Ambassador of Brazil, members of the Diplomatic
Corps, Prof. Milos Djuran, Rector of Kragujevac University and many others. |
