THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES ATTEND DINNER IN ATHENS CELEBRATING THE LIGHTING OF THE FLAME OF HOPE

Belgrade, 12 November 2008 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. David Andrews (son of Princess Katherine) and Mrs. Alison Andrews (daughter of Princess Katherine) attended a dinner last night at the New Acropolis Museum in Athens on the occasion of the Lighting of the Flame of Hope for the IX Special Olympics World Winter Games in 2009 in Idaho, United States.

The dinner was hosted by the Greek Minister of Culture Mr. Michalis Liapis and the President of Special Olympics Hellas Mrs. Joanna Despotopoulou, in honour of the President of Special Olympics International Dr Timothy P. Shriver and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Special Olympics World Winter Games - Idaho 2009, Dr George Fisher.

Athens has been selected to host the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games, organized under auspices of Special Olympics International, an organization whose goal is to provide year around sports training and athletic competition for a variety of Olympic type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.

Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine attended this morning the Lighting of the Flame of Hope at the Atrium of the Zappeion Megaron.
