CROWN COUNCIL MEMBER PROFESSOR ZIVOJIN BUMBASIREVIC PASSED AWAY

Belgrade 12 November 2008 - His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II, members of the Crown Council and members of the Privy Council with great sadness are announcing that Professor Zivojin Bumbasirevic, Crown Council member, Knight of Grand Cross in the order of the White Eagle and Knight of the Legion of Honour passed away today.

"Serbia has lost one of its greatest doctors who left behind more than 350 published works in the field of Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology. The Crown has lost a good and loyal friend and outstanding expert. It is hard to describe in words the sorrow after professor Zivojinovic passed away", emphasized the Crown Prince in his letter of condolences to the family of the Crown Council Member.

Prof. Dr. sc. Zivojin Bumbasirevic, MD, CC, SANU, AMR, cLd'H, Prof. Emeritus of the Belgrade University was born in Krusevac 1920. During his lifetime he received: Medal Purkiniana and Medal Freyk (Brno University), Priorov Medal (CITO University of Moscow), Roman Medical Academy Medal, etc. Honorary Member of SICOT, of the Orthopaedic Societies of France, Italy, Czechoslovakia, Germany and Hungary, Honorary Member of the Society of Traumatologists of Hungary, Member of the International Organization of Surgeons and of the International Surgeons' College.
