HRH CROWN PRINCESS VICTORIA OF SWEDEN AND HRH CROWN
PRINCESS KATHERINE VISIT TO TIRSOVA HOSPITAL
Belgrade, 12 December 2008 –
HRH Crown Princess Victoria
of Sweden, HRH Crown Princess Katherine, HRH Princess Brigitta and HE Mr.
Krister Bringeus, the Swedish Ambassador, visited the University Children’s
Clinic in Tirsova Centre for haemodialysis and kidney transplants where they
were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Amira Peco-Antic, head of nephrology, who
presented two new pieces of equipment donated by Swedish companies Ericsson
and Gambro. During the visit guests were introduced to little Stefan
Alavanja, the youngest kidney transplant patient in the country.
Speeches were given by
HRH Crown Princess Victoria of
Sweden and HRH Crown Princess Katherine. HE Mr. Krister Bringeus, the
Swedish Ambassador, Mr. Bo Andersson, Head of Ericsson, Mrs. Jelena
Belokaic, Vice President of Gambro, Prof. Dr. Milan Djukic, Head of Clinical
Centre.
HRH Crown Princess Katherine pointed out in her speech:
“My husband and I are very honoured to have Crown Princess Victoria here in
our country. She has an incredibly big heart, she has done so much good in
her country. I am very proud of this hospital and I would like to
congratulate the director and all the staff for their remarkable work”.
Afterwards HRH Crown Princess Katherine presented the
newly opened operating unit for Congenital Heart Disease for children and
adults to
HRH Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, HRH Princess Brigitta and
HE Mr. Krister Bringeus. This important project was initiated by HRH Crown
Princess Katherine Foundation and Prof. Dr. Afksendios Kalangos, Head of
Cardiovascular surgery at the University Hospital in Geneva and a great
friend of Princess Katherine, in cooperation with the Institute of
Cardiovascular Diseases of the Clinical Centre of Serbia and University
Children’s Clinic in Tirsova. |
