H.R.H. CROWN PRINCE ALEKSANDAR II AND H.R.H. PRINCE VLADIMIR ATTEND “SLAVA” OF FORMER CADETS OF
KING ALEKSANDAR I GRAMMAR SCHOOL

Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Prince Vladimir attended today “slava” (saint patron day) of former cadets of King Aleksandar I Grammar School at Topčider Hill.

It is the school that King Aleksandar I established in 1934 and that worked till the beginning of the World War Two as the most elite school of that type in the Balkans.

Today the Military Grammar School is situated in its premises.

On the occasion of St. Barbara,  “slava” of King Aleksandar I Grammar School, His Grace Bishop of Hvostan Atanasije, vicar of Serbian Patriarch Pavle  performed the “slava” service.

After the warm welcome, asked to address former cadets, Crown Prince Aleksandar II said: “ You are living witnesses of the time that was erased from the history and people’s mind, but while there are witnesses nothing can be erased. My family and I are very grateful to you for preserving your memories. An enormous work of returning memories to the people is waiting for us, but not on account of the past, but in interest of the future.”

Together with hosts and head of Military Grammar School, colonel of Yugoslav Army Mr. Veljko Lučić, Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Prince Vladimir visited classrooms and cabinets where future officers and non-commission officers of Yugoslav Army study today.
