PRINCESS KATHERINE WITH AMBASSADOR BRINKER VISIT MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND HEALTH INSTITUTIONS IN BELGRADE

Belgrade, 12 May 2009 – HRH Crown Princess Katherine together with her special guest HE Ambassador Nancy Brinker from the United States and her son Mr. Eric Brinker met today with H.E. Prof. Dr. Tomica Milosavljevic, Minister of Health of Serbia, and Dr Nevena Karanovic, state secretary in the Ministry of Health, and discussed prospects of cooperation between Serbian health institutions and “Susan G. Komen for Cure Foundation”.

Afterwards, HRH Crown Princess Katherine and Ambassador Brinker met with city secretaries for health of Belgrade and Novi Sad, Prof. Dr Dragana Jovanovic and Prof. Dr Aleksandra Novakov-Mikic at the Secretariat for Health of Belgrade.

HRH Crown Princess Katherine and Ambassador Brinker and her team then visited the Institute for Oncology, where they were briefed about situation in this field by Prof. Dr Nenad Borojevic, the director of the Institute.

During morning, HRH Crown Princess Katherine and Ambassador Brinker also visited Dom Zdravlja “Savski venac” and KBC “Dr Dragisa Misovic”, where they were welcomed by Dr Mirjana Velimirovic and Prof. Dr Dragan Radovanovic, directors of these health institutions, and spent time in conversation with doctors and patients at both places.

HRH Crown Princess Katherine and Ambassador Brinker had a working lunch with members of Women’s Health Initiative in the afternoon.

On Wednesday, 13 May at 9 am a press conference will take place at the White Palace in the presence of Ambassador Brinker, HRH Crown Princess Katherine, Dr. Nevena Karanovic, State Secretary for Health and Prof. Dr. Dragana Jovanovic, Belgrade Secretary for Health. Following the conference Ambassador Nancy Brinker will give a lecture on the topic “Imagine life without breast cancer”. This event will gather professionals from different health institutions in Serbia engaged in prevention and treatment of breast cancer.
