THE ROYAL COUPLE VISIT WASHINGTON D.C.
Belgrade, 3 June 2009 – Their Royal Highnesses
Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine will visit
Washington D.C. from 4-6 June as guests of Ambassador Nancy Brinker,
founder of the Suzan G. Komen for
the Cure Foundation. The Royal Couple will attend numerous
events, including dinner with Vice President Joe Biden of the United
States.
On arrival Thursday 4 June Their Royal Highnesses
will meet with the Serbian Ambassador to the United States, HE Mr.
Vladimir Petrovic. After that Crown Prince Alexander and Crown
Princess Katherine will attend a special dinner organized in their
honour by Ambassador Nancy Brinker at the Café Milano.
On Friday 5 June Their Royal Highnesses will
visit Komen Washington DC Headquarters where they will attend a
Global Survivors breakfast. After that the Royal Couple will
participate in the Race Day Walk Through.
In the evening hours Their Royal Highnesses will
attend a barbeque in the Residence of Vice President Biden together
with his family and many distinguished people of Washington. Earlier
on Their Royal Highnesses will meet privately with Vice President
Joe Biden and Dr Jill Biden Ph.D.
On Saturday 6 June the annual
Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure
will take place in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses Crown
Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine, Vice President
Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden, Ambassador Nancy Brinker, her son
Eric Brinker and many others. Teams from 61 federal agencies, 31
congressional offices, and 50 embassies have signed up for the race
where walkers and runners traditionally wear pink. "Forget about red
state vs. blue state, for a day at least, this is about the state of
pink,".
The event is being held to raise funds to fight
breast cancer is to expand past United Sates shores to several other
countries, including Italy, Germany, and Egypt.
Ambassador Brinker visited Belgrade 11-15 May as
a guest of Their Royal Highnesses and met with H.E. Prof. Dr. Tomica
Milosavljevic, Minister of Health of Serbia, and Dr Nevena
Karanovic, State Secretary in the Ministry of Health and discussed
cooperation between Serbian health institutions and “Susan G. Komen
for the Cure Foundation” in fighting this terrible disease. |
