CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER AT ANNIVERSARY OF BELGRADE’S UNIVERSITY

Belgrade, 14 September 2009 – His Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander II attended a ceremony on the occasion of the 201st Anniversary of Belgrade’s University at the Civil Engineering Faculty in Belgrade today. After the opening speech of Prof. Dr Branko Kovacevic, Rector of Belgrade’s University, and H.E. Dr Zarko Obradovic, Minister of Education, the best students were awarded special prizes, and several distinguished guests received “Professor Emeritus” charters.

The ceremony was well attended, by representatives of all member Faculties of Belgrade University, as well as Rector of Novi Sad University Prof. Dr Radmila Marinkovic – Neducin, Academician Ljubisa Rakic, deputy President of Serbian Academy of Science and Arts, representatives of students’ organizations, guests of honour and media representatives.

HRH Crown Prince Alexander II had the pleasure of meeting the best students of Belgrade’s University after the official part of the programme, and expressed his support and congratulated these young people on their success.

HRH Crown Prince Alexander II Foundation for Education has obtained scholarships for around fifty of the most distinguished Serbian students to continue their education at best Universities in United Kingdom and the United Sates, and will continue to support talented young Serbian scholars.
