THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES DELIVER MOBILE DIGITAL
MAMMOGRAPHY MACHINE TO
NIS CLINICAL CENTRE
BIGGEST DONATION TO THE CLINICAL CENTRE NIS FROM CROWN PRINCESS

Belgrade, 27 September 2009 – Their Royal
Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine
together with Dr Nevena Karanovic State Secretary in the Ministry of
Health, and Professor Alexander Margulis, from Lifeline Humanitarian
Organization in New York, whose patron is HRH Crown Princess
Katherine, delivered today a mobile digital mammography machine
worth 700,000 Euros to Nis Clinical Centre.
“It makes me very happy when we can support
institutions of vital importance to our citizens, and Nis Clinical
Centre is definitely such an institution” said HRH Crown Prince
Alexander II while addressing His Grace Bishop of Nis, Irinej, Mr.
Mile Ilic, President of City Assembly of Nis, Prof. Jozef Glasnovic,
Deputy Director of Clinical Centre of Nis, Prof. Bosnjakovic, Head
of Radiology.
HRH Crown Princess Katherine in her address
during the ceremony of the delivery of mobile digital mammography
emphasized: “Breast cancer is a serious disease, but it can be
successfully treated if detected on time. Therefore a joint effort
is required – of State, Ministry of Health, non-governmental
organizations, companies and the media in raising awareness about
breast cancer. That is the only way to achieve that Serbia is no
longer at the top of the list of European countries with mortality
from breast cancer”. Princess Katherine especially thanked the
Stavros S. Niarchos Charitable Organization, Prof. Dr. Aleksandar
Margulis, Dunav Insurance Company, General Electric Company and Nis
Express.
After the speeches, His Grace Bishop Irinej
blessed future use of the mammography machine for the benefit of all
women of Nis and south of Serbia.
Their Royal Highnesses visited the Serbian
Orthodox Church where they attended Holy Liturgy officiated by His
Grace Bishop of Nis, Irinej at the Church of Exaltation of the
Precious Cross.
Their Royal Highnesses visited the Islamic Centre
and had the pleasure to be received by Imam of Nis, Mr. Mustafa
Jusufspahic.
Following the visit to Nis, Their Royal
Highnesses then went to Paracin where they delivered a mammography
machine to Paracin Hospital and attended ceremony on the occasion of
celebration Day’s of Paracin. |
