HRH CROWN PRINCESS KATHERINE OFFICIALLY OPENS 33RD MEETING OF THE EUROPEAN STRABISMOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION

Belgrade, 5 October 2009 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine attended today the official opening ceremony of the 33rd Meeting of the European Strabismological Association (ESA) at the Sava Centre in Belgrade. This congress is being held under auspices of Their Royal Highnesses and has gathered over 150 most prominent scientists, and is the biggest event in this field held in Europe this year.

The Meeting was officially opened by HRH Crown Princess Katherine, who addressed the participants and said: “It is for the first time that European Strabismological Association holds its meeting in our country and in this part of Europe. I wish this conference to be successful, I wish you all to gain new insights, and I wish you all to achieve great results in your future work”.

On behalf of organizers, Prof. Dr Branislav Stankovic, Director of Belgrade’s Clinic for Ophthalmology, addressed the participants. Prof. Dr Stankovic expressed his gratitude to His Royal Highnesses for the auspices and Princess Katharine for the efforts and acivements in humanitarian field. Director of Belgrade’s Clinic for Ophthalmology emphasised the importance of holding this significant meeting for the ophthalmologist professionals in Belgrade for the first time.

Professor Dr Seyhan B. Özkan President of ESA Executive Committee also addressed the participants, and said: “It is my great pleasure that 33rd Meeting of the European Strabismological Association is taking place in Belgrade, for the first time. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Princess Katherine for the auspices”. After addressing, Professor Dr Seyhan B. Özkan officially opened 33rd Meeting of the European Strabismological Association.

The 33rd Meeting of the European Strabismological Association is being held from October 4-7, 2009 in Belgrade’s Sava Centre. Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess Katherine will host a reception for participants of the Congress tonight at 7.30 pm at the White Palace.
