TRADITIONAL CHARITY LUNCH AT THE GRANDE
BRETAGNE HOTEL IN ATHENS UNDER THE PATRONAGE OF THEIR ROYAL
HIGHNESSES
Athens, 1 December 2009 – The traditional
Christmas Charity lunch took place today at the Grand Bretagne
Hotel in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince
Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine. Also present were Mr and
Mrs David Andrews (son of Princess Katherine) and Mrs Alison
Andrews (daughter of Princess Katherine).
The event was organized by Lifeline Hellas
Humanitarian Organization and sponsored by Alapis Company.
This traditional humanitarian lunch is
organized under the title “Letter to Santa Claus” with the aim
to support the Safe Delivery project that was established to
renew delivery rooms in the hospitals in Serbia. The programme
study was undertaken by the Royal Medical Board which is a part
of the Crown Princess Katherine Foundation in collaboration with
doctors from hospitals in Serbia. Thanks to this project the
Princess Katherine Foundation successfully equipped delivery
rooms of the hospitals in the cities of Gornji Milanovac, Cacak,
Uzice, Valjevo, Sremska Mitrovica, Kraljevo and Hospital Dragisa
Misovic in Belgrade.
During the charity lunch attendees were
welcomed with speeches by Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince
Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine, HE Mr. Daniel V.
Speckhard, United States Ambassador to Greece and HE Mr. Dragan
Zupanjevac, Serbian Ambassador to Greece and Mr. John Trikardos,
President of the Board of Directors of Lifeline Hellas.
The humanitarian lunch carried the slogan
“from children for the children”, and exemplified an exquisite
entertainment program, performed by the talented young Greek
mezzo soprano Katia Paschou. As a part of the official ceremony,
the annual film of Crown Princess Katherine was shown
introducing the public to the humanitarian activities that took
place throughout past year. After HRH Crown Princess Katherine’s
speech was concluded an auction followed held by famous Greek
antiquer Mr Tsangarakis concerning boots specially made in
Serbia by Tigar Corporation in aid of breast cancer campaign.
This unique event, organized for the sixth
year in a row was supported by many Greek companies. The
Ballroom of Grand Bretagne was magically decorated by Mrs. Emy
Trikardos.

Lifeline Humanitarian Organization supports
people in need in Serbia for many years. The assistance to
Serbia continued with the Christmas season in Athens, marked by
this successful humanitarian lunch which has become a tradition.
