CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER ATTENDS DECORATION
CEREMONY FOR POET MATIJA BECKOVIC AT THE PATRIARCHY
Belgrade, 5 January 2010 – His Royal Highness
Crown Prince Alexander accompanied by Mr. Dragomir Acovic,
member of the Privy Council, and Prof. Dr. Predrag Palavestra,
member of the Crown Council, attended today a ceremony at the
Patriarchy of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Belgrade, where the
most famous Serbian poet Matija Beckovic, member of the Crown
Council and Serbian Academy of Science and Arts (SASA) was
decorated with the Medal of Saint Sava by His Eminence
Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littorals.
In the presence of His Grace Bishop of Hvosno
Atanasije and His Grace ret. Bishop of Zahumlje and Hercegovina
Atanasije, the family of Matija Beckovic, and many distinguished
guests, His Eminence Metropolitan Amfilohije decorated Mr.
Matija Beckovic for his 70th birthday and 50 years of work.
The Saint Sava decoration is the highest rank
awarded by the Serbian Orthodox Church, first established in
1883. This medal is awarded to individuals and institutions for
the highest contribution to the Serbian Orthodox Church and the
Serbian nation. |
