CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER ATTENDS CEREMONY
SWIMMING FOR HONOURABLE CROSS OF SABAC 2010
Belgrade, 19 January 2010 – HRH Crown Prince
Alexander II accompanied by Prof. Miroslav Gasic, member of the
Crown Council attended today traditional event Swimming for the
Honourable Cross of Sabac, organized for the seventh time on the
Holy Epiphany Day, under the patronage of HRH Crown Prince
Alexander II.
The event started with Holy Liturgy that was
served at the Temple of St. Apostles Peter and Paul by His Grace
Bishop of Sabac Lavrentije followed by a Procession to the city
beach on the Sava River. The event was also attended by His
Excellency Monsignor Stanislav Hocevar, Roman Catholic
Metropolitan and Archbishop of Belgrade.
After His Grace Bishop Lavrentije blessed the
gathering, HRH Crown Prince Alexander delivered a speech
emphasizing: “All participants today showed great persistence,
bravery and trust in God. Those are characteristics of the best.
It is my great honour to be the patron of this event”.
Following the ceremony the race started with
more than 40 competitors who swam 33 meters downstream the Sava
River. HRH Crown Prince Alexander handed over a special cup to
the winner of this years’ Swimming for the Honourable Cross of
Sabac race, but also commended all participants and many
citizens of Sabac who came to mark the Holy Epiphany Day. |
