PRINCES PETER, PHILIP, ALEXANDER AND
DIMITRI HOST PRINCES BALL CHARITY EVENT IN NEW YORK TO BENEFIT
THE WOMEN OF SERBIA
New York, 5 February 2010 – Their Royal
Highnesses Hereditary Prince Peter, Prince Philip, Prince
Alexander and Prince Dimitri together with Their Royal
Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess
Katherine hosted The Princes’ Ball – A Mardi Gras Masquerade
Charity Gala at Cipriani Restaurant in New York City. February 5
is also Prince Peter’s 30th birthday. Crown Princess Katherine’s
grandchildren Amanda, Stephanie, Nicolas and Michael were also
present.
The event was attended by many dignitaries,
celebrities and donors from the New York City and all over the
United States, such as: HE Mr. Feodor Starcevic, Serbian
Ambassador to UN, Ms Kori Udovicki, Assistant Secretary-General
of United Nations, and Mr Branko Radosevic, Consul General of
Serbia in New York. Members of the organizing committee: Ms.
Catherine P. Saxton, Chairperson of the Saxton Group Limited and
Chairperson of the Benefit Committee of the Princes’ Ball,
Co-Chairpersons of the Benefit Committee Ms. Tatiana Stepanovic,
Ms. Anna Maria Torhaghi, Ms. Stephanie Newhouse, Mr. Charles
Ferri, Mr. Jo Standish.
Serbia is still suffering from a lack of
essential medical equipment, supplies for the needy and has the
highest incidence of breast cancer and of infant mortality in
Europe. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Breast
Cancer Campaign that the Princess Katherine Foundation is
carrying out in cooperation with and according to the National
plan of the Ministry of Health of Serbia, as well as equipping
Neonatal Intensive Care Units in Serbian hospitals.
HRH Crown Princess Katherine through her
Foundation in Serbia and Lifeline Humanitarian Organization in
the United States of America already made a huge impact for the
Breast Cancer Campaign by buying more Mobile Digital Mammography
Units. There is one unit at the moment operating and examining
the women in South of Serbia. In addition to organizing two
Conferences on breast cancer screening in the presence of the
World experts in this area, as well as launching a Breast Cancer
Awareness Campaign aiming to motivate women to take better care
of themselves.
Lifeline Humanitarian Organization was
founded in 1993 under the patronage of HRH Crown Princess
Katherine and is today operating from offices in several
countries that work closely with the Foundation in Belgrade
bringing vital humanitarian aid and medical equipment to Serbia.
Lifeline has saved many lives and created a better future for
all the people in Serbia regardless of religion or ethnic origin
and will continue to support medical institutions, orphanages
and the most vulnerable population in Serbia. |
