Alexander Message For Christmas and New Year In these difficult times, at the end of the year which witnessed a new wave of violence and suffering, we must remember with sorrow the innocent victims who have been caused through the fault and responsibility of those who have put their personal gain and obsession with power above the sanctity of life! These victims reveal the evil which has prevailed against God`s and man`s laws, and which reigns over people who have been pushed into misery, humiliation and despair. We owe these victims our sympathy, our determination not to forget and our pledge that we shall spare no effort to fight for changes and for victory over evil. We have not got much time. There is already a third generation of exiles from our wartime and post-war wave of emigration, while the regime - the heir of those who deprived the exiles of their homeland - continues to invent and to create new enemies within their own people. A new wave of emigration is in full swing, while fresh assaults on human freedoms and human rights are being made. It is our responsibility to look after and protect our people, to halt their ruin and to put a stop to the insane squandering of our past, present and future. We are not alone in the world, and we cannot live without and outside the world. This is the world we have been promised and given, even when it unjust to us, even when it punishes us either for a good reason or for no reason at all! The injustice done to us as a people cannot be an excuse for us to do an injustice to someone else. We can change the world only when we are capable of changing ourselves. In this respect, our allies are all who feel and know the boundary of humanness which no man, no Serb, must cross if he wants to remain a man, if he wants to remain a Serb. Our weapon is democracy and our defence is truth, justice and knowledge. Almost two thousand years ago shepherds and wise men followed the star which they recognised as an omen and symbol of Redemption. The birth of Christ, who was recognised as Saviour by those pure in spirit and rich in knowledge, has given a new chance to mankind and opened the path to Salvation. It is high time for us Serbs to look around and find that star which has been hidden from us by clouds and artificial fog for so long! It is time to get ready for the 2000th anniversary of the Birth of Saviour of the world and to welcome it with the birth of peace and concord among us and with the resurrection of our freedom! The Royal House of Karadjordje, my wife, my sons and I send you all our love and all our hopes for a happy and blessed New Year, and greet you all and everywhere with the most beautiful greetings given to us from heaven: PEACE OF GOD, CHRIST IS BORN!
