HRH PRINCE ALEKSANDAR PAYS VISIT
TO MINISTRY OF CULTURE OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA

 

H.R.H. Crown Prince Aleksandar II in responding to the invitation of the Republic Minister of Culture Mr. Branislav Lečić visited this Ministry today.

Minister Lečić briefed Crown Prince Aleksandar II on the activities of the Ministry. He expressed his gratitude to the Crown Prince for establishing Scholarship Fund for the most talented students of final years of the Universities, emphasizing the importance of this project to the further education and affirmation of our young professionals.

In a warm and lengthy conversation, H.R.H. Crown Prince Aleksandar II and Minister Lečić initiated several important projects and accomplished several conclusions.

Minister Lečić supported the initiative of the Crown Prince to open Dedinje Palaces as cultural-historical monuments and to adopt the Guard House (Žandarmerijska Kuća) into a gallery premises for exhibiting the thematic entities from the Royal collections. 

Crown Prince Aleksandar II delivered to Mr. Lečić the report of experts on the condition of art collections at the Palaces.

Mr. Lečić suggested to form joint expert team consisting of representatives of the Royal Palace, Republic Ministry of Culture and National Museum that would deal with long term restoration and protection of Old Palace and White Palace and the existing works of art.

He also expressed his support to the suggestion of Crown Prince Aleksandar II to involve Ministry of Culture into the preparation of the celebration of 200 year anniversary of the First Serbian Uprising, as the coordinator of the unified action.
