ROYAL PALACE DIPLOMATIC INTERNATIONAL
CUISINE EVENING
Belgrade, 27 May 2010 – Their Royal
Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess
Katherine hosted tonight the traditional evening of
international cuisine at the Royal Palace.
At this unique gathering, the Ambassadors
of more than twenty countries and international missions in
Belgrade came at the invitation of Their Royal Highnesses to
represent the gastronomic tradition of their countries with
typical national dishes and beverages.
Guests were welcomed by HRH Crown Prince
Alexander II, who stressed that it is always nice to see
such a colourful banquet table at the Royal Palace, and that
this event brings us together because it gives us a chance
to get to know each other’s culture better, by gathering and
tasting dishes and beverages of various countries.
In the official part of the programme,
the Lola folklore ensemble presented a series of dances from
Serbia to the guests.
The dining table of the Royal Palace was
enriched this evening with so many wonderful, tasteful and
colourful dishes from all over the world. Here are just a
few. Mexico was represented by delicious Mole (sauce with
chicken). Russia presented the traditional Russian salad and
fish. Macedonia opted for sheep cheese and wine, as did
Switzerland with its’ world famous cheese. Algeria presented
famous couscous with lamb and vegetables. Japan was
represented by sushi. The Italian Embassy made lasagne and
tiramisu. Syria was presented with Syrian coffee and Ghana
with rice and grilled chicken. Angola was presented with
codfish croquettes, and Egypt brought Baklava. Canada opted
for salmon with spinach and chicken stuffed with goose liver
in smoked cheese, and India for chicken „Biryani“. |
