THE ROYAL COUPLE VISIT TO NIS AND
TOPONICA
ATTENDED OPENING OF THE KINDERGARTEN IN
TOPONICA AND DELIVERED HUMANITARIAN AID TO CLINICAL CENTRE
AND ORPHANAGE “DUSKO RADOVIC”
Belgrade, 1 June 2010 – Their Royal
Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander II and Crown Princess
Katherine visited today the City of Nis where they met with
Mr. Milos Simonovic, Mayor of Nis, opened the first
kindergarten in Toponica, visited Nis University and Career
Centre and delivered humanitarian aid to Radiology
Department at the Clinical Centre and Orphanage Dusko
Radovic.
Their Royal Highnesses were welcomed by
the Mayor of Nis, Mr. Milos Simonovic at the City Council in
the presence of Mr. George Psiachas, General Council of
Greece based in Nis Dr. Eleine Laycock, great friend of the
Royal Couple form Unite Kingdom and great philanthropist.
After the meeting in the City Council, the Royal Couple,
Mayor of Nis and Dr. Laycock attended the opening of the
first kindergarten in Toponica.
At the opening ceremony speeches were
delivered by HRH Crown Princess Katherine, Mr. Milos
Simonovic, Mayor of Nis and Mr. Jonic, Director of
Kindergarten Centre “Pcelice”.
In her speech Princess Katherine
emphasized: “I would like to thank our dear friend Dr
Laycock, who should get most credits for opening this
institution today. She is a long time friend and great
benefactor of our country and our people, especially the
children. Dear children, please be aware that my husband
Crown Prince Alexander and I think of you all the time and
that we are always keeping you in our hearts.
Afterwards, Their Royal Highnesses
together with Dr. Laycock visited University of Nis where
they were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Vesna Lopicic, Vice Rector
of the University and Ms. Dragana Rodic, Director of the
Career Centre. After touring the Career Centre the Crown
Prince emphasized: “I am very pleased to see that the Centre
for Career Development is working so well. Initially, when
my Foundation for education launched these centres at all
our Universities, idea was to help our youth to gain some
practical skills, make better connection with academic and
business community and have better perspective on the
business opportunities. I am very happy to see that this
idea is growing”.
After, Their Royal Highnesses and Dr.
Eleine Laycock visited Clinical Centre of Nis, Radiology
Department where they delivered ten wheelchairs provided
thanks to cooperation between Wheelchair Foundation and
Lifeline Chicago.
Later than, Crown Prince Alexander and
Crown Princess Katherine delivered humanitarian aid to the
Orphanage “Dusko Radovic” consisted of pillows, bed linen,
towels and pyjamas. During this delivery present was also
Mrs. Dusica Davidovic, member of the Nis City Council.
Following the visit, the Royal Couple met with the Kolo
Srpskih Sestara. |
