OPENING OF EXHIBITION “ARTS UNLIMITED – WORK OF ART FROM
BETHEL” (GERMANY)
AT THE WHITE PALACE
Belgrade, 23 September 2010 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown
Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine together with HE Mr Wolfram Maas,
the German Ambassador to Serbia, Dr Angelika Maas and Pastor Berward Wolf,
President of Bodelscwinghsche Foundation Bethel opened an exhibition of
paintings and handicrafts made by protégés of the Bethel Foundation this
afternoon at the White Palace. The opening was also attended by members of
German Bundestag, representatives of diplomatic corps, and prominent figures of
Serbian cultural and public life.
HRH Crown Prince Alexander emphasized in his speech: “This is
the second art project that have been co-organized by the Royal Palace and
German embassy in Belgrade, which I am certain will foster better cultural ties
between our countries. I would like that this exhibition be an inspiration to
our organizations of people with disabilities, and to encourage them to make
projects like this in Serbia. “
HE Mr. Wolfram Maas, the German Ambassador to Serbia said:
“Works of art that we could admire here, clearly show what people with
disabilities could produce, if we give them a chance. Any society that rejects
such talented people, obviously is making harm to itself. Betel’s great
accomplishment have been in finding and promoting such people of great talents,
in the best of interest of artists with disabilities, and in the best interest
of us all ultimately.”
Pastor Berward Wolf, President of Bodelscwinghsche Foundation
Bethel has said: “People with disabilities brings something to our lives,
something that could be benefit for all of us. They are then no more people with
problems, but people with special contribution, with special gifts. Because of
their candor, they often bring spirit of unity with them”.
Bodelscwinghsche Foundation Bethel was founded 140 years ago
in Germany. Today they are present in six German States aiming to help and
support people with special needs. Bethel Foundation provides help and
assistance to all people with disabilities regardless of their age, life
aspirations, talents or skills.
