OPENING OF EXHIBITION “ARTS UNLIMITED – WORK OF ART FROM BETHEL” (GERMANY)
AT THE WHITE PALACE

Belgrade, 23 September 2010 – Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine together with HE Mr Wolfram Maas, the German Ambassador to Serbia, Dr Angelika Maas and Pastor Berward Wolf, President of Bodelscwinghsche Foundation Bethel opened an exhibition of paintings and handicrafts made by protégés of the Bethel Foundation this afternoon at the White Palace. The opening was also attended by members of German Bundestag, representatives of diplomatic corps, and prominent figures of Serbian cultural and public life.

HRH Crown Prince Alexander emphasized in his speech: “This is the second art project that have been co-organized by the Royal Palace and German embassy in Belgrade, which I am certain will foster better cultural ties between our countries. I would like that this exhibition be an inspiration to our organizations of people with disabilities, and to encourage them to make projects like this in Serbia. “

HE Mr. Wolfram Maas, the German Ambassador to Serbia said: “Works of art that we could admire here, clearly show what people with disabilities could produce, if we give them a chance. Any society that rejects such talented people, obviously is making harm to itself. Betel’s great accomplishment have been in finding and promoting such people of great talents, in the best of interest of artists with disabilities, and in the best interest of us all ultimately.”

Pastor Berward Wolf, President of Bodelscwinghsche Foundation Bethel has said: “People with disabilities brings something to our lives, something that could be benefit for all of us. They are then no more people with problems, but people with special contribution, with special gifts. Because of their candor, they often bring spirit of unity with them”.

Bodelscwinghsche Foundation Bethel was founded 140 years ago in Germany. Today they are present in six German States aiming to help and support people with special needs. Bethel Foundation provides help and assistance to all people with disabilities regardless of their age, life aspirations, talents or skills.

The exhibition “Arts Unlimited-work of arts from Bethel” will be open for the public until 10 October at the White Palace.
