LIFELINE UNITED KINGDOM CHARITY EVENT IN LONDON FOR
CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL IN SERBIA
Belgrade, London, 21 November 2010 – Lifeline United Kingdom
Humanitarian Organisation hosted a charity event that took place last night at
Claridge’s Hotel in London under the patronage of Their Royal Highnesses Crown
Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine.
The aim of this event was to raise funds for the University
Children’s Hospital Tirsova in Belgrade, a cause very close to Princess
Katherine’s heart. The University Children’s Hospital Tirsova is a major
hospital in Belgrade and needs renovation of its cardio-surgery unit.
Over 200 young people from London, Greece and United States
gathered at the event organised under the theme Deco Rocks! Making a reference
to the art deco style of Claridge’s Hotel, among whom were Their Royal
Highnesses Prince Peter, Prince Philip and Prince Alexander as well as members
of the organisation board Katherine Embiricos, Aliki – Marcadia Lampropoulos,
Countess Camilla Schenk von Stauffenberg, Marietta Chandris, Adriana Embiricos,
Veronica Embiricos, Lydia Forte, Ileana Georgiadis, Emma Gutman, Alessandra
Jolliffe, Laura Lehmann, Simon Liebel, Katarina Skoberne and their friends.
The event was supported by Absolute Vodka, Maddox and great
support was given by Tigar Company from Serbia who was selling fashionable
rubber boots at the event giving entire profits to Lifeline United Kingdom.
During the programme guests had the pleasure to enjoy the
dinner followed by dancing, taking part in raffle and auction of various
exclusive items.
Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Katherine and the
University Children’s Hospital Tirsova have been working closely for over a
decade and during this period several projects have been successfully completed,
such as: the construction of the first unit for treating congenital heart
disease (the only department in Serbia), reconstruction of the intensive care
unit and purchasing essential equipment with the complete neonatal intensive
care unit such as incubators, respirators, monitors, apparatus for dialyses,
aspirators, neonatal ventilators, portable X-ray, infusion pumps.
Lifeline Humanitarian Organization was founded in 1993 under
the patronage of HRH Crown Princess Katherine and is operating from offices in
the United Kingdom, Greece, United States of America and Canada and they work
closely with the Foundation in Belgrade in bringing vital humanitarian aid and
medical equipment to Serbia. So far, Lifeline has saved many lives and created a
better future for all the people in Serbia regardless of religion or ethnic
origin and will continue to support medical institutions, orphanages and the
socially deprived. |
