CROWN PRINCE ALEXANDER PATRON OF THE INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON MACULAR DISEASES

Belgrade, 11 December 2010 – Their Royal Highness Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine attended today the official opening ceremony of “The International Symposium – Updates on macular diseases” that took place in the Hotel Hyatt Regency in Belgrade. HRH Crown Prince Alexander is the patron of this event, which is organized under auspices of South East European Ophthalmologic Society, European VitreoRetinal Society and Serbian VitreoRetinal Society.

HRH Crown Prince Alexander addressed participants and guests at the opening ceremony emphasizing: “This important symposium presents an excellent opportunity to display the latest results in the field of macular diseases as well as to exchange ideas and experience. I am certain that conclusions and recommendations from this meeting will aid further development in all aspects related to macular diseases as well as improving the level of medical services, for the ultimate benefit of our citizens and health professionals alike”.

During official opening ceremony, participants were also addressed by Prof. Dr Zoran Kuljaca, president of the organizational board, Prof. Dr Janos Nemeth, president of South East European Ophthalmologic Society and academician Ljubisa Rakic, vice president of Serbian Academy of Sciences and arts (SASA).

The programme of this symposium will focus on new methods in diagnostics and imaging, treatment of age – related macular degeneration, therapy and technology. The Congress is being held in the Crystal Ballroom of Hotel Hyatt Regency in Belgrade.

Their Royal Highnesses Crown Prince Alexander and Crown Princess Katherine hosted a reception for participants of the Symposium last night at White Palace.
