Royal Karađorđević House Foundation Scholarship Winners

Announced at Press Conference

The winners of scholarships of the Royal Karađorđević House Foundation for the 2001/2002 academic year were announced at a press conference held at the Belgrade Media Centre today.

In the presence of many media representatives, the Foundation Director Mr. Dragomir Acović, and members of the Executive Board academicians Dragomir Vitorović and Slobodan Dušanić, announced the names of 101 students from all Universities in Yugoslavia who had won the scholarships.

Mr. Acović reminded those present of the goals of the Foundation and the wish of its founder, H.R.H. Crown Prince Aleksandar II, that the Foundation should cover the academic fees of the most successful students who continue their post-graduate studies at some of the most prestigious universities in the world.

Mr. Acovic also said that the Executive Board and members of the Scholarship Committee stressed that truly outstanding candidates had applied for the scholarship, a fact confirmed by the candidates’ 9.59 average mark.

According to the Committee, the competition was so tight that in some cases only the impression the candidates made at the interview helped the Committee decide whom to award the scholarships.

The solemn scholarship presentation ceremony of the Royal Karađorđević House Foundation will take place at the Royal Palace in Belgrade on Friday, 15th February 2002.
